What inspired you to work in the field of community economic development?

Knowing that I have family who do want to live here and knowing my younger generations cousins are finding jobs elsewhere. I wanted to be a source of information to help them and others to thrive here in their hometown rather than moving somewhere else.

How does your role contribute to the organization's efforts to improve the local economy?
My role would bring more businesses and attractions to downtown, exposing our current and newly integrated business more customers and tourism. Being bilingual, I feel I have more of an opportunity to reach Spanish speakers entrepreneurs or people wanting to collaborate or be part of the change.

Can you share a success story or project you've worked on that has had a significant impact on the local community's economic development?
Through volunteering and partaking in citizens academies, I’ve been able to work with communities to identify issues and goals, as they see them, and to facilitate the development of collective resolutions or strategies by providing any resources that I can.

Jessyca loves traveling and exploring. It is on her bucket list to visit all the National Parks and so far she has been to 23 out of the 63.
