Michelle DeWeese is the Executive Coordinator for Matt Pivarnik and GO Topeka at the Greater Topeka Partnership. A proud Topeka native, Michelle has deep roots in the community. She married her high school sweetheart, Burt, and together they have two children. Their daughter, Lexi, is currently studying finance at Kansas State University and is an active member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. Their son, Branton, is embarking on his college journey as a freshman at Washburn University, where he will also be playing football. Michelle is an enthusiastic supporter of both her children’s endeavors, often cheering, “Go Cats and Go Bods!” when rooting for their respective schools.

What's one small change that an individual or family can make to contribute to the local economy's growth?

Support Local, we have so many places to choose from. Make a point to visit a new place and see what all they have to offer.

What's your go-to recommendation for a fun, affordable activity or event in the local area that also supports the local economy?

Sports Center, a great place to for families to go and enjoy spending time with each other, while playing a game of mini or goofy golf.

What inspired you to work in the field of community economic development?

I was inspired to work in economic development because of the rewarding feeling of being apart of an organization that benefits the community in all aspects.

Michelle loves to travel, and the beach is her happy place! Whether it's soaking up the sun or enjoying the waves, she finds ultimate relaxation by the sea.

Yager Stadium

Michelle’s favorite place in Topeka is Yager Stadium at Washburn University, where her son Branton will be playing football for the Ichabods. For Michelle, football is more than just a game; it’s a way of life. She loves everything about football, from the teamwork and atmosphere to the community spirit at the games. There’s nothing better than spending a nice fall Saturday afternoon cheering on her favorite team. Michelle and her family are excited to spend the next four years supporting Branton and enjoying football at Yager Stadium.
