Today, Visit Topeka, an organization of the Greater Topeka Partnership, held a press conference at The Burger Stand in the Brookwood Shopping Center to announce a new decal for local businesses to display in their window to denote their dedication to inclusivity. “Inclusive Topeka” decals are free for businesses and available at visittopeka.com/inclusive-topeka/. “The Inclusive Topeka decal is a pledge to welcome one and all,” said Sean Dixon, president of Visit Topeka. “Our community, and our businesses and attractions are stronger because of the diversity of this city.  We are proud to lead this effort to show residents and visitors alike that Topeka is a community that is ready to embrace the world.”

Joanna Becker, general manager of The Burger Stand Topeka, said, “The Burger Stand is excited to partner with Visit Topeka in its vision for inclusivity and equality. We are passionate about creating an environment that is safe, fun, and supportive of BlPOC, POC, LGBTQIA+. It is important to us that individuals feel like they have a place to eat safely and unwind over good food and drinks. But more than that, we give back to these communities and show support by getting involved any way we can.”

“Diversity and inclusion is a business imperative. This decal signifies that Topeka welcomes and celebrates everyone. It shows the region and the world that we value diversity, culture, and human dignity,” said Glenda Washington, chief equity and opportunity officer, Greater Topeka Partnership. “This effort demonstrates that the Partnership does not just talk about inclusion, we are actively working to find new ways to live our values in Topeka and Shawnee County.”
