Meet Sean Dixon, the President of Visit Topeka and Senior Vice President of the Greater Topeka Partnership. Sean joined the organization in July of 2020, bringing with him over a decade of experience in tourism marketing. Before relocating to Topeka, Sean worked at the Springfield, Missouri Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, where he honed his skills in promoting travel and tourism. Sean holds both a B.S. and an M.A. in Communication from Missouri State University, which have been invaluable assets to his career in marketing. When he’s not working to promote Topeka and its attractions, Sean enjoys spending time with his family. Whether it’s taking a road trip or just spending a quiet night at home, Sean values his time with his loved ones. As the President of Visit Topeka, Sean is dedicated to showcasing all that the city has to offer, from its historic landmarks to its vibrant cultural scene.

How does your role contribute to the organization's efforts to improve the local economy?
Our team is working to improve the quality of life for area residents through destination development and marketing.
What are some of the biggest challenges you've faced while working to improve the local economy, and how have you overcome them?
Over the last few years, we’ve had the opportunity to reimagine many of the community spaces available for various events and activations. For example, Topeka Dino Days converted the Great Overland Station into a pop-up natural history museum in Partnership with the Field Museum in Chicago. Topeka has many more unique and interesting spaces we are working to enhance.
How does the organization involve and engage with the local community to ensure its economic development efforts are aligned with their needs and priorities?
Everything we do is enabled by our local community. We rely on dozens of volunteer leaders to guide and direct our work on a daily basis. Without this support, we’re a rudderless ship.

Whether it's a cozy morning ritual or a mid-day pick-me-up, Sean's love for tea knows no bounds.
