Momentum 2022 is Topeka’s holistic economic development plan developed by a committee of engaged leaders from our community, assisted by strategic planning firm Market Street Services. The five-year implementation process focuses on five key areas in which we can create positive change in Topeka:

  • Develop Homegrown Talent
  • Create Vibrant and Attractive Places
  • Grow a Diverse Economy
  • Promote a Positive Image
  • Collaborate for a Strong Community

An East Topeka Council was also created to focus on the implementation of these key processes in East Topeka.

“It was the goal of the Greater Topeka Partnership and Topeka’s community leaders to take a hard look at where we are today and where we want to be in five years. From that, Momentum 2022 was created,” said Brett Oetting, President & CEO of Visit Topeka. “We live in a community full of incredibly generous people and because of that, we were able to reach our funding goal for Momentum 2022. Now, our focus shifts to securing $1 million for the Total Resource Campaign which is very different than Momentum 2022. This campaign is all about strengthening our members.”

For businesses and individuals supporting one or both campaigns, the GTP has outlined the key differences between the two initiatives.

Five-year investment

Long-term investment over five years.

Staff Lead

Goal of improving community

Considered investment dollars in the future of the community and Momentum 2022’s mission of economic development. Business leaders invest in the long-term economic development strategies of Momentum 2022 to build a more successful business climate and improve the quality of life in Topeka & Shawnee County.

One-year commitment
