Small-business owners and entrepreneurs help make Topeka a place where people want to work, visit and play. Our small businesses help create competition in the local economy, drive job growth and help contribute to Topeka’s identity. Many of our entrepreneurs also donate their time, money and resources to community organizations and events.
It’s for these reasons and more that we want to take this week to appreciate all the hardworking people in Topeka during National Small Business Week! We’ll share local events, resources and more to all of our channels so be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to stay in the loop!
One event coming up in may that celebrates the small-business owners and entrepreneurs in our community is the Small Business Awards luncheon. We will recognize four local businesses and one small business advocate. The 38th Annual Small Business Awards will take place on May 15, 2018 at the Capitol Plaza Hotel.

Kick-Off National Small Business Week by attending these online special events:
Rhonda Abrams, author of Six-Week Startup, is hosting a live Facebook event with America’s Small Business Development Center (ASBDC) Network. SBDC Consultants have a lot of knowledge to share, and Abrams will not only share tips from experience consultants, but take questions for business owners of all stages of development.
You can meet other business owners and get expert advice at the inaugural National Small Business Week Virtual Conference. This free, 3-Day event is hosted by the U.S. Small Business Administration and SCORE association and registration is free to the public. Webinar topics include: How Changing Consumer Behavior Impacts your Business, Managing Your Finances in the Cloud, and How Opening a Pop-Up Shop Can Help Launch Your Retail Brand.
We look forward to celebrating #SmallBusinessWeek with you!
