Program Structure
The program consists of a two-day retreat, 8 full-day sessions between January and May, and a graduation luncheon in May. Sessions will focus on leadership competencies through training, discussions, interactive presentations, tours, and speakers. The sessions will cover key community challenges in such areas as quality of life, government, crime, economic development, community services, education, and health care.
PROGRAM CONCEPTS
21st Century Leadership Skills – learning styles, collaboration, consensus, facilitation, visioning, adaptive/technical leadership skills, and steps to a performing community.
Community Trusteeship – working for the common good of the whole community.
ATTENDANCE NOTICE
Leadership Greater Topeka requires attendance and participation in the orientation, two-day retreat and all class activities, sessions and luncheons. Session 1-8 will be from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Only one excused absence (a total of nine hours) from Session 1-8 will be permitted. Class members can expect to spend up to 15 hours outside regular class times with assignments and class project implementation.
