Introducing Josh Patterson, a dynamic force within the Greater Topeka Partnership, bringing his Kansas roots and diverse experiences to the table. Hailing from various cities in the Sunflower State, including Wichita, Topeka, and Herington, Josh has truly embraced the spirit of his home state.

After completing his high school journey, Josh embarked on a brief adventure at KU in Lawrence before finding his way back to the welcoming arms of Topeka. It was at Washburn University’s School of Business where Josh honed his skills and proudly earned his degree, equipping him with a solid foundation for his professional endeavors.

Josh’s path led him to the Greater Topeka Partnership after an impressive seven-year tenure at Payless ShoeSource. His extensive background in the corporate world has provided him with a wealth of knowledge and insights into the business landscape.

In his personal life, Josh finds immense joy in the loving company of his cherished wife, Brooklyn, and their four lively sons. As a dedicated family man, he embraces every opportunity to create lasting memories and build strong connections with his loved ones. When he can steal some rare moments of leisure, Josh indulges in his passion for video games and delights in exploring the latest technological marvels.

If you could magically improve one aspect of the local economy overnight, what would it be and why?

I would improve access and cost of childcare. If childcare were readily available and affordable, our available workforce would increase and companies could start to fill some of their open positions.

What's one small change that an individual or family can make to contribute to the local economy's growth?

Shop local! Spending your money locally helps keep more dollars in the community, and raises more sales tax for public services.

How does your role contribute to the organization's efforts to improve the local economy?

I help ensure that the Greater Topeka Partnership collects and spends it’s resources effectively. The goal is to make the biggest impact we can while ensuring that the Partnership will be around for years to come.

Josh began his academic journey as a computer science major before discovering his passion for numbers and transitioning to the captivating world of accounting. It's a testament to his adaptable nature and the thrilling twists and turns that life can take us on!
