Israel Sanchez is the director of equity & business development for GO Topeka, where he works on various initiatives to improve the community’s overall programs that relate to small business DE&I efforts. Originally from Havana, Cuba, Israel has called Topeka his home for over a decade. When he’s not busy finding ways to make the community a better place to live, Israel enjoys spending quality time with his family. In his free time, he works on writing several books, a passion that has been with him for years.
What inspired you to work in the field of community economic development?

Israel is the creative mind behind Kansas Young, a video series project that showcases the work of young artists and creators who call Kansas home. Through this project, Israel highlights the vibrant and diverse creative community that exists in the state, while also inspiring and encouraging others to pursue their passions and dreams.

As a Topeka resident for over a decade, he has enjoyed many experiences in NOTO, including proposing to his fiancee in this dynamic and lively neighborhood. Whether shopping, dining, or experiencing the arts, Israel sees NOTO as a place of community and creative expression.
