Curtis S. Sneden is President of the Greater Topeka Chamber of Commerce.  He is dedicated to helping business grow and building a stronger community in his home town.  From enjoying the downtown shops at Christmastime when he was a kid to working with business owners today, Curtis has evolved from little guy to leader guy!  He’s also the Senior Vice President of the Greater Topeka Partnership, so he’s got several jobs.

Curtis is a dedicated community member who sits on the Boards of Directors for the Topeka Community Foundation and Community Action, a non-profit working hard to fight poverty in Topeka.

When he’s not busy with his day job, Curtis likes to channel his inner Houdini as a semi-professional magician. He’s all about creating smart and insightful presentations that leave corporate audiences mesmerized.

And let’s not forget the important stuff – Curtis is a proud Topeka native who graduated from Kansas State University and the Washburn University School of Law. He and his wife Chris are proud parents of three adult children.

What's your favorite local business or entrepreneur that you've worked with, and why?
It’s impossible to choose. Each of our businesses is making a unique contribution to our more prosperous future.
If you could magically improve one aspect of the local economy overnight, what would it be and why?
Grow the population and, thus, grow the workforce. To quote Charlton Heston in the 1973 sci-fi thriller Soylent Green, “It’s PEOPPPLEEEEE!!!
In your opinion, what are some of the most important factors in building a strong and sustainable local economy?
Topeka’s secret sauce is our collaboration. My peers from other chambers across the country complain that their city council is battling with their school board, for example. Here, all the key stakeholders are at the table and pulling together. We may not always agree but everyone keeps talking and keeps rowing and, as a community, we keep moving forward.

When he's not performing his duties as President of the Chamber, Curtis loves to perform the art of magic and mystery for audiences across the U.S. Actually, he's performed in Ireland and Hungary, so that makes him an International Magician!
