In 2021, she graduated from Washburn University with undergraduate degrees in Finance, Marketing, and Management, setting the stage for her remarkable career. Undeterred by the demands of Corporate America, Alona pursued further academic excellence, enrolling in the Washburn University MBA Program. Her relentless dedication culminated in the attainment of a Masters of Business Administration in May of 2023.

With a keen focus on business analytics, Alona brings a wealth of experience in both consumer and financial analytics to the table. Her expertise is underscored by a Business Insights: Black Belt Level 1 Certification from Delta Associates, Inc., demonstrating her commitment to mastering the intricacies of her field.

What's your favorite local business or entrepreneur that you've worked with, and why?

Chef Lamona. Her food is to die for.

What inspired you to work in the field of community economic development?

I grew up in Topeka and when I graduated college I got the opportunity to work in cities with thriving economic development endeavors that turned sleepy streets in to major destinations. I felt like what I was experiencing in these cities was more than obtainable in Topeka, it just takes someone with the vision and follow through to make it happen. So I decided to roll up my sleeves and get to work.

In your opinion, what are some of the most important factors in building a strong and sustainable local economy?

Buy in from the community, clear communication around legislative issues, and worthwhile businesses.
