What inspired you to work in the field of community economic development?
I’m a lifelong Topekan and have seen the improvements and growth over the last 10 years and wanted to be involved and part of an organization that perpetuates positive change.
What's one small change that an individual or family can make to contribute to the local economy's growth?
When you’re talking to people from out of town, don’t be shy about bragging on your city or town. Share your favorite local spots, attractions, and experiences with enthusiasm. Show them why you love living there and make them feel welcome.
How does your role contribute to the organization's efforts to improve the local economy?
I work to attract and retain primary employers in the Topeka and Shawnee County community.

Ashley received the runner-up title of 2001 Fiesta Mexicana Princess, a highly esteemed annual fundraiser for Our Lady of Guadalupe. The Fiesta Mexicana is a beloved tradition in the Oakland community that celebrates the rich heritage of Mexican culture. Ashley's dedication to fundraising for the church showcased her deep connection to the community and the traditions she grew up with.

Sports Center

Ashley has fond memories of going to Sports Center with her grandpa when she was young, and now she enjoys taking her own kids there. With a variety of activities such as gooney golf, putt-putt, driving range, batting cages, and go-karts, Sports Center is a great place for families to have fun and make lasting memories together.
