Meet Andrea Bailey – the powerhouse Vice-President of Administration! She’s the one in charge of making sure everything runs smoothly at the office, from maintenance to finance to liaising with outside contractors for IT, insurance, and facilities maintenance.
But that’s not all she does – Andrea’s got a whole host of specific duties, like keeping up relationships and contracts with outside service contractors, assisting with insurance policies and coverage, and even helping out with basic IT needs from staff. Plus, she’s always ready to lend a hand with accounts payable and accounts receivable, processing billing adjustments and refunds like a pro.
But when she’s not rocking her role as VP, Andrea loves to kick back and relax with her loved ones – including her amazing husband and best friend Chris, her family, and her nieces and nephews who bring her so much pride and joy. She’s also an avid fisher, camper, and dirt track racing fan, and isn’t afraid to take off on a spontaneous adventure. Now that’s what we call a boss!
What inspired you to work in the field of community economic development?
I was born and raised here and stayed because of my family, I want to be proud of where I live. I want it to be the best it can be for my family!
What are some of the biggest challenges you've faced while working to improve the local economy, and how have you overcome them?
What's the most interesting thing you've learned about the local economy since joining the organization?
Before her dreams of working with the GTP team to improve the Topeka community, Andrea wanted to be a truck driver when she was little.
Topeka Civic Theatre
Have you heard about Andrea’s favorite spot in Topeka? It’s the one and only Topeka Civic Theatre, and she absolutely adores it! For Andrea, there’s nothing quite like getting lost in a captivating story – and the theatre is the perfect place to do just that.
Not only does it allow her to escape from the stresses and worries of the outside world, but it’s also a space where she can fully immerse herself in the magic of performance art. Whether she’s catching a play, a musical, or any other kind of show, Andrea is always on the edge of her seat, fully enthralled with the story being told.
And really, who can blame her? With the talented actors, beautiful sets, and incredible sound and lighting design, the Topeka Civic Theatre is truly a one-of-a-kind experience. No wonder it’s Andrea’s happy place!
