MOORE SET TO EXPAND IN TOPEKA AREA, CREATING 60 NEW JOBS AND GENERATING $240 MILLION ECONOMIC IMPACT

Today, Topeka and Shawnee County’s Joint Economic Development Organization (JEDO) board approved an agreement that will aid in the expansion of Southwest Publishing & Mailing, a Moore company. As part of the expansion, the long-standing Topeka-based business, which has been providing printing services and direct mail production to customers for more than 50 years, has rebranded its local facility as Moore Digital Print & Mail Center – Topeka. PTMW EXPANDING IN TOPEKA AREA, CREATING NEARLY 200 NEW JOBS AND GENERATING $1.3 BILLION ECONOMIC IMPACT

Today, Topeka and Shawnee County’s Joint Economic Development Organization (JEDO) board approved an agreement that will aid in the expansion of PTMW Inc., an existing business in Topeka’s manufacturing industry that is leading the way in manufacturing, welding, fabrication and more. Previously referred to as “Project Queen Bee,” the expansion is expected to result in 182 new jobs, with salaries ranging from $80,000 to $120,000. Plug and Play Topeka announces latest cohort of participating startups!

Following an in-person pitch event at Plug and Play Headquarters in Sunnyvale, CA, Plug and Play Topeka has announced the 16 Animal Health startups and 11 Agtech startups that were selected for the newest batches of the Animal Health and Agtech accelerator programs. The program aims to foster innovation within those two industries, both of which have a significant impact on the region. The chosen startups will participate in a series of business development webinars, mentor sessions with industry experts, and projects with the programs’ corporate partners(many of which have bases in the Midwest). This year’s cohort comprises companies from 10 different countries—and 10 different states within the United States.

Topeka Youth Commission, Topeka Community Foundation award grants to fund local youth-led projects

With assistance from the Topeka Community Foundation, the Topeka Youth Commission is excited to announce its latest recipients of Stay785, an annual grant program created to fund community projects designed and directed by youths in the Topeka and Shawnee County area.   For its 2023-2024 term, Stay785 will fund three local youth-led projects with partnering organizations. This year’s awards, totaling $10,000, were determined by members of the Topeka Youth Commission, based on the quality and strength of each project presented. RIVERFRONT ADVISORY COUNCIL ANNOUNCES FIRST-ROUND SURVEY RESULTS INFORMING TOPEKA’S RIVERFRONT ACTIVATION PLAN

Leadership Greater topeka class of 2024 announced

Founded in 1984, Leadership Greater Topeka, a Greater Topeka Partnership program, identifies aspiring and established leadership from the community to participate in a competitive annual leadership training course.   Class members attend a retreat and nine day-long sessions that begin in January and continue through May. During these classes, participants will increase their capacity to lead as they learn about challenges facing Topeka and Shawnee County and how they can work to influence important community issues.   The class of 2024 was selected from more than 160 nominations. TOPEKA PARTNERSHIP LAUNCHES KANSAS RIVERFRONT ACTIVATION PLAN, LOOKS TO ENGAGE COMMUNITY THROUGHOUT project TIMELINE

The Greater Topeka Partnership, under the direction of the Topeka Riverfront Advisory Council, is pleased to launch the Topeka Riverfront Activation Plan project. Riverfront activation is a key initiative of Topeka and Shawnee County’s latest community strategy, Momentum 2027.   The Topeka Riverfront Activation Plan will review existing conditions around the riverfront, develop innovative concepts, and create an implementable activation plan that will enhance the region’s core through diversified live-work-play environments, connected community spaces, and improved quality of place. The goal of this river master plan is to establish the riverfront as a vibrant district that supports growth and economic development, connections to nature, recreation, and reinvestment in surrounding neighborhoods.
